How long have you been using only the pull out method with success?

OK... Before anyone become judgemental. I am 26 years old female and currently in a serious relationship for 3+ years.

This is my concern;

August was my first month TTC and unfortunately it was not a successful month.

Since I became sexually active about 9 years ago I have had 3 relationships. (1 year/ 4 years/ and currently 3 years)

YES I was stupid!! but during most of my previous 4 year relationship I relied only on the pull out method as a form of BC. I never became pregnant and I never even had a pregnancy scare.

Now I have been with my current boyfriend for 3 years and we have been happily living together for 2 years. We have recently decided to try for our first child and like I said, August was our first month.

Prior to TTC we have also only relied on the pull out method as the only form of BC and I have never become preggo.

I am truly scared because although I have an EXTREMLY REGULAR 27 day cycle that never fails me. I am truly afraid that I might be infertile.

Maybe I have not gotten preggo in the past using the pull out method because I am infertile?

Mind you, last month was my first month and it was not successful.

Should I seek help or should I keep on trying for a while?

Please help..

:D

  1. Me and my husband have been using that method for over 6 years. Also in August we started TTC.. good luck im not counting on the first month maybe this month...

  2. Keep trying and don't stress about it. My friend has 2 boys, now 10 & 8, and she uses the pull out method all the time, so don't worry!  Start charting your fertility- http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ and read this book- http://www.tcoyf.com/ it will help you determine if there are any possible issues with you.  Your doc won't consider it a problem until you've been ttc for a year, so just relax and have fun!

  3. First of all your 26 and only been in 3 relationships so why would someone judge? You are a saint compaired to EVERYONE I know inc me! :) Anyhow, I am EXTREAMLY fertile!! The first day my husband and I tried to have a baby we did (then came baby #1). After her I was on birthcontrol but had a serious reaction to it so I got off it and never started back on it. Our daughter is 2 almost 3 and all we have been doing is the pull out method and I never became preg. Now we are trying for our next child (lucky #2 lol) and on the first day we tried I believe I did get preg b/c like clock work my body is showing all the signs like before. The only way someone can get preg with the pull out method is if they pre-*** or if they pull out too late! I doubt you are infertile. Good luck and I send you tons of baby dust (but i dont think you need it!)! Take care!

  4. My boyfriend and I used that method for over 2 years before I became pregnant.

  5. You should not be worried. If pull out method worked for you, it means your partner is very skilled :D

There is little chance of getting pregnant while using that method, so consider urself lucky and try more  more and more this month : )

  6. My BF and I have been together 3yrs 3 mths and have been using the pull out method since we got together ( both got tested for STDS before hand :) ) No babies yet, sadly. My BF was convinced that this was a fool proof way of BC. LOL.  We are just now TTC. Im in the same boat as you, worrying about whether I may be infertile. Dont stress out yet, it can take up to a yr for healthy fertile couples to conceive.

  7. I used the pull out method successfully for two years. (because we were naughty teenagers) Then when we got married we wanted a baby too. It took me eight months to get pregnant but I did. There might be a slight problem, but if his sperm is getting in there your chances are much better. Just wait it out, not everyone can get pregnant on the first try. If you are not pregnant in a year that's when it's time to worry and see a doctor, but you can see a doctor to check your health if you want to anyway. Just don't worry and have fun I think you'll be pregnant before you know it. Good luck!

  8. You aren't going to get much help with testing because you haven't gotten pregnant with the pull out method.  The pull out method has a failure rate of 33% if you are having s*x during your fertile time.  This happens to be the same odds of getting pregnant if you have regular s*x once during your fertile time.

Typically, you need to try for a year and have no result before doctors raise an eyebrow and have 3 miscarriages before tests can start.

  9. You won't find judgment here because I have been with my husband for almost 5 years & for almost three of them we exclusively used the pull-out method!  Sometimes I am concerned that either he or I has a problem with fertility.  You can by a fertility monitor/test at Walgreen's now though.  Just an FYI.

  10. ive been using that method for 10+ years with no other BC, I dont have any kids yet ;)

  11. Back when me and my hubby weren't married we only used the pull out method for probably 2 years and I never got pregnant. You've only tried for one month to get pregnant so no I would definitely not be worried yet! Relax, have lots of s*x and make sure to hit your most fertile days and pretty soon it will probably happen. Good Luck! **Baby dust for you**
