How long is 200m sprint?

Question

ive got my very first athletics comp on friday and im going long jump which im fine at and then im doing 200m but how long is it or how many laps?

1/2 lap of the track   one standard track lap = 400Meters   and of course one mile (4lap) = 1600Meter

200m stands for 200 meters

That would depend on the size of the track.   I believe that 400 m is the common length of one lap on most tracks or at least it was when I was in high school. So 200 meters would be half a lap.  

(200 meters is roughly 1/8 of a mile.)
