I'm having some crazy strong concrete delivered tomorrow. I have poured and finished "normal" strength concrete before and you have plenty of time to get it smooth before it begins to set up. How much faster is this 5000 stuff going to begin to set? Any concrete people please advise. Thanx.

  1. I hear a typical concrete guy like me worrying in the back ground.........hey every thing is ok..........just remember....first rule is get it in and get it flat as we go........just stop the truck till you have each area flat.......do not let somebody hurry you you are in charge and paying for the mud.....you won't like the rest........just get it flat first............nothing to it after that...have a nice nites sleep:)

  2. It still depends on the weather conditions etc. THe hotter and more direct sun light the faster it is. Initial sets are quicker.

Wait for the concret to bleed  etc. you will know  and just watch ,it is not to different to normal concrete. The bigger the area the harder it is to finnish. Get some help if needed.

Struggling on your own is no fun.

  3. around the same but pay attention to the concrete temp and the weather temp

  4. You can ask the driver to make the slump greater, they will add a little more water and the working time will increase.

    Happy pouring

  5. its the final strength thats different not the set time...if you want a looser mix have them add a plastisizer for more slump , it wont reduce your final psi...
