I'm currently Infantry and I love it. its the coolest thing ever but I moved to Abilene Texas from Cedar Rapids Iowa and the closest Infantry unit is in Austin and I need to find a unit closer, so I have to reclass. I've been thinking about going Armor. How long is the AIT for Armor if I reclass? I'm in the National Guard.

  1. As a citizen of Texas, you will have the option of also joining the Texas Guard, which is the stupidest group I have ever seen.  Texas loves to think that it is its own country.  Anyays, Armor and infantry are set up kinda similar--there are numerous MOS within the category of "armor," almost all of which have an OSUT program, like Infantry.  Your AIT will most likely be at Ft. Knox and could last as long as 12 - 14 weeks, maybe longer.

  2. I think that's 45B in the Army.  I went through Air Force Spec Ops Armament (2W1X1Z) at Sheppard AFB, TX.  M240, M134, M2, 25mm, 40mm, 105mm, M9, M16A2, M4A1.  10 weeks.

  3. Sorry If I'm wrong but the Nat Guard trains with the Active Army for AIT right? If so I think it's 15 Weeks in Fort Knox, KY.

I found the info for a 19K Armor Crewman--sorry if it's not the same thing.  If the right link I included isn't right  you may be able to find it on this site if you search around. I hope I helped.

  4. if you go to fort knox youll join a osut company in about theyre 9th week and go to week 15, several national guard unit offer reclass as well its 2 weeks classroom and 2 weeks motorpool/field.
