I want to go into the Health Care field. Do I have to go to basic combat training and THEN Health Care Basic, or do I just go to the Health Care Basic Training?

And do I have to have Security Clearance? In other words, I have bad credit...can I still go into the health care field in the USAF?

  1. It is six weeks, and yes they will most likely let you in from what my mom tells me and she served for 20 years.

  2. You will go to basic in TX for 6 1/2 weeks,

As of November 2008, basic will be 8 1/2 weeks long

Then you will go to your Tech School for the job you choose.

Then after the tech School, you will go to your first duty station.

Whether you need a security clearance, depends on the specific job you will have.

  3. It takes 6 weeks for basic training

  4. What did your recruiter tell you?  Your recruiter is your very best source of accurate info on this subject!

  5. I agree. Your recruiter is the best source of information for these questions. I have dealt with several recruiters from different forces and the AF has always proven to be the most honest and sincere.

Good luck!!!!!!!! Since you are going into the health care you will probably do all of your training in San Antonio, TX.

  6. It's six weeks until October and then its 8 weeks.  You have to still go to basic for the 8 weeks  and then after that you go to what's called tech school to train for however long required.  Oh, and if you have your heart set on the health field, be ready to have you heart broken.  That's what I wanted to go into, but they have more applicants than positions, so the chances of going in there with a guaranteed job are slim.  Go sit down witha recruiter and they can give you all this info.  Or go to airforce.com and the process is explained.
