They last as long as the advertiser wants to pay for it.  Most US commercials fit in 10, 15, 30 and 60 second slots, although 60s are getting pretty rare.

An infomercial is actually a 30 minute commercial.

i think normal commercials are 30 seconds.

and advertisements like for oxyclean and weird diet pills and weird commercials selling c**p things are 60 seconds.

Commercials can last any were from 10 seconds, up to 1 minute. It depends on how much the advertiser is willing to pay, how much they have to say. 1 hour long sales programs are a few more bucks than the others. That is until  commercials during the Superbowl. At that time millions of dollars can be spent for 15 second commercials.
