  1. There are no direct ferries from Civitavecchia (the port of Rome) to Corsica. You would have to take a ferry to Sardinia (about 5 hours), make your way from Golfo Aranci to Porto Torres or Santa Teresa, and catch the ferry from there to Corsica. Note that the ferries from Porto Torres don't run every day.

Your best bet is to take the train to Livorno and catch a ferry to Bastia, Corsica from there. The train takes about 3 hours, the ferry is another 4 hours. You could also go to Naples, but the ferries don't run to Corsica every day.

    Ferries to Corsica:

You could fly from Rome to Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi, or Figari, but there are no direct flights (at least not at this time of year). You have to connect in Nice or Marseille.

  2. instead of taking a ferry or all those trains and then a ferry.... just take a small enoco jet flight to Corsica. something like easy-jet, Ryan air, meridiana, etc.... once you get to Rome.

just look on-line or you could even wait until you get there and then just go to a travel agent, (yes they still have them) and book the flight there. I lived in Sardinia for 5 years. you could fly to olbia, then a taxi or bus to Santa Teresa, then the ferry to Corsica. but I would just fly to Corsica straight. Be prepared to speak french.... They won't speak Italian or English..... I know this first hand. but the wine, the cheese, the croissants... to die for. I once took a ferry to Corsica, had breakfast, and returned an hour later to Sardinia.... it was well worth it. (about 50 bucks). have fun and good luck.
