How long is a lap quilt???

is it 60 in by 60 in or 48in by 60 in....or something different???

Most lap quilts and lapghans are about 3'x3' but can vary depending on the pattern you choose to make.  They are usually made for people that sit in a wheelchair, or any other upright chair.

Since its for you, make it the size you want it to be. But just to let you know, I do prestamped, prequilted, cross stitch baby & lap quilts, & they are normally the this size 34"x43". but like the others said, make it what you want it to be.

I would think it would depend on the person you intend the quilt to be for and also the pattern. A trip 'round the world is square, while others are rectangular.   There is not a standard size, but can be 41 X41, square, or more the size of an afghan- 38-40X46-48.

It is the length that makes you happy!! There are no laws governing these things. For Srs in wheelchairs I would make them 48 long by about 36, for hubby in the recliner I would go ahead and make it either 60 or 72 long.

The thing is to make it pleasing to YOU!! If you want the thing to be square, by all means make it square. If you want it rectangular do that.

When we make these things, we need to keep in mind that we have "Artistic License" to make them however we want them to be.
