This is kind of a trick question.  I could say 26.2 miles, or between 4 and 5 hours....

A marathon is LONG.  That's the only real way to explain it.  The mental and physical endurance needed makes it a very difficult event.

So, how long is a marathon?  With a wry grin, I'll say, "It's a long way."
