  1. The Acela Express makes it in 6.5 hours, although you pay extra for the fast ride.  Other Amtrak trains take longer, ranging from over seven to over nine hours.

  2. Amtrak's Regional Service 7h 50m

    Amtrak's Acela Express 6h 36m

  3. About 7 hours...

  4. call AMTRAK and ask them...you'll get an accurate time frame estimate..

The Acela train is very fast but about twice the price...

  5. The Acela takes nearly 6.5 hours.

Supposedly, this is a high speed train, but most of the track is not very straight and it can reach its highest speed on only a few stretches. And it's highest speed is much slower than the

French TGV train cruising speed of 186 mph.

A lot of money has been spent improving the corridor from NYC to Boston, but mostly for installation of overhead catenary so they can run electric all the way. At one time, they had to switch engines in New Haven.

For all of that, the train fromNYC to Boston isn't more than a couple of minutes faster than the New Haven trains of 1951 and trains made the run from Washington-NYC in as little as 3 hours a century ago.

Our government isn't very serious about running good trains -- and they suck the profit out of the corridor trains to subsidize other routes.

  6. Probably about 6 hours.
