  1. my son could stand with me holding his arms in my lap when he was pretty young. i think most babies can. he didnt actually stand until 7 months, which i think is a little early. but a week later after learning to pull up, he was cruising the couch. getting down was the hard part. lol

  2. no, all of my kids started walking when they were 1 yr old

  3. That all depends on what you mean by "stand"

I'd say that if you mean "pushing up to a standing position while mom holds baby" then yes as early as 3 weeks, particularly in a baby that was born late/has good head control.

People also don't think newborns can crawl, but they have the crawling reflex until about two months -its not a proper belly off the ground crawl of course- but it is more than enough to get a baby to mom's nipple from a foot or two away.  But check it out:

  4. My baby could stand up in my lap at that age, not on the floor, though. Every baby is different. My baby could support his head from the day he was born, too. Some babies are just stronger than others.

  5. Ha ha. Thanks for picking me as Best Answer. I know, I couldn't believe it when i read it either! My son was 10 months when he walked and I guess he was standing up unaided for about 4 weeks before that.

  6. Perhaps she just meant she could pull him up by his hands into a standing position.  Who knows, three weeks is even young for that.  It's highly unlikely!

My son just started standing independently (without my help) at nine months.  He pulls up on furniture and is starting to take a few steps while holding on.

They really all are very different.  My oldest son (now 2) did things at a completely different pace.  Your little guy will be running in no time!

Congrats on your new bundle of joy!

  7. maybe she meant to say 3 months but even that is stretching it. or maybe she meant her baby will stand while being supported. i dunno but im sure 3 weeks is very impossible.
