  1. Take the metro, way faster and cheaper, as there often are traffic jams around Gare du Nord. You'll have to change twice.

    Here are directions:

-At Palais des Congres, go to the Porte Maillot station on line 1.

-Take line 1, direction Chateau de Vincennes to Charles de Gaulle Etoile.

-Change at Charles de Gaulle Etoile and take line 2 towards Nation, until Barbes-Rochechouart.

-At Barbes-Rochechouart, take line 4 towards Porte d'Orleans, for one stop... and that's Gare du Nord.

From Porte Maillot to Charles de Gaulle, count about 5 minutes, then about 15 minutes from Charles de Gaulle to Barbes, and finally three minutes from Barbes to Gare du Nord. That's twenty three minutes. Add about 7 minutes max per change, that's an extra 14 minutes for a total of 37 minutes. A taxi can be faster, but I've been caught multiple times in a traffic jam, and have missed my train. It can take from 20 minutes to 1 hour and a half by taxi!

So my advice, take the metro.

Do not however that there you'll have to climb up and down stairs a few times if you take the metro, especially at Barbes. Furthermore, the Barbes-Rochechouart "fauna" can be a little "dodgy" at times, so make sure your wallet and money are safe.

Hope this helps, and bon voyage!
