Question:

How long is it going to take for my friend's almost 2-yr. old niece's teeth to grow back?

My friend's sister takes HORRIBLY poor care of her child. Very abusive & negligent. & she thinks it's funny. She's young & immature-18. She suffers ADHD & Bipolar, but she doesn't want to get help for it. She smokes weed & does who knows what other drugs, & she drinks alcohol. She intimidates EVERYONE around her.

But anyway, the baby cries ALL the time & is always in constant pain & agony. I feel bad for her. Her mom, my friend's sister, let the baby's teeth rot, & all she feeds her is junk food & fast food. & thinks it's funny. She DELIBERATELY did things to make the baby lose her teeth because she "got sick of her going around biting people", & plus, she admitted that she takes poor care of the baby because she hates the baby's dad. Her teeth were VERY rotten, & her mom (my friend's sister) said the baby's breath stunk, & she pulled EVERY tooth out of the baby's mouth.

My friend called CPS & the cops on her several times, & they always use the excuse about a heavy caseload. She's thinking about trying to fight for custody for the baby.

That was an overview of what's going on. My question is, are her baby teeth going to grow back, or does she have to wait until she's like 5 or 6? I feel VERY bad for this baby. My friend cries nearly every night because of how bad her sister takes care of her child, & feels no remorse, & thinks it's a joke.

  1. Have more people call CPS... that is child neglect and abuse.  Keep calling and begin keeping a record of each attempt to get social services involved.

She will have to wait until her adult teeth grow in.  If there is severe tooth decay (caries), then her adult teeth may have been affected as well.

That child needs to be removed from the situation ASAP.

  2. No her baby teeth aren't going to grow back. You will have to wait for her permanent teeth to grow in.

The child protection services should of yanked the child away  from its mother, especially when the pediatrition saw evidence, he would of made sure that something was done when he saw the child at one of her appointments of course unless your friend's sister never kept her appointments. Whereas the hospital should of got the  ball rolling because she missed appointments.

I think your question is a joke because from all you said, in all rights she should not still have the child because a child is protected by the state and law because they are innocent and never asked to be born. Nobody would have let the situation go as long as it did(if it is true). Where do you live? In a world where people ignore these kind of things? It surely can't be on this planet.

  3. You need to call CPS and the cops. Get someone to go out there. She should not have this kid in her care.

  4. The teeth will not grow back until she is 5 or 6.

  5. dang wow

the kid has to wait, and honestly, she needs dentures, so her mouth isn't deformed until her teeth do come in

  6. OK you seriously need to go down to the police station and talk to them ASAP. Go down and keep bothering them and bothering them...don't let up at all! They will eventually get tired and check it out if they are as bad as they sound.

  7. She will not have any teeth until her adult teeth grow in. And when her teeth DO come in, they might be rotten also.  I knew someone who's kids teeth rotted at a young age and the dentist actually had to cut out the rotten teeth so they didn't rot the adult teeth in the future. Someone should knock out that mothers teeth and see how she feels.

  8. She will have to wait for her permanent teeth to come in.  Very sad.

  9. This child needs to see a pediatric dentist as well as other doctors, obviously she has been effected by her mother's addictions during pregnancy and sadly what teeth do grow back will take quite some time and won't be healthy teeth at all.  The health of this child is at stake, the best thing to do is to consult a doctor and have a doctor or a dentist to step in and alert the authorities I'm sure that if medical or dental specialists step in CPS will clear someone's desk.

  10. I would think that you need to step up your efforts for the sake of this child. CPS must get involved. I work in a public school system and CPS will investigate - I've never heard them say they are too busy - that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. When you report to CPS, give them the locations of the drugs and be specific about what is happening to this child. It sounds like you might be this child's only hope.

  11. The new teeth will come in at around age 5 or 6 and they will probably be crooked and need braces eventually.

  12. it  could  take    about    3  years
