How long is it going to take until we tap into our own oil, America?

Seriously, we have the largest oil reserve in the world. Why don't we go green in the pockets?

Ever heard of the Bakken Formation? GOOGLE it. The U.S. Geological Service issued a report in April ('08) that only scientists and oilmen/women knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since '95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota and extreme eastern Montana ... check THIS out: The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska's Prudhoe Bay, and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable. .. at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion!! Is this a possibility?

  1. It makes sense!!! That's why we won't do it!!!!!!!!!!

    God help us!

  2. This has been a great political debate for many years.  Not to turn this into a grand debate, but look at who is to blame for not drilling for more oil.

While many people blame the Republicans for the high price of gas, what causes the gas prices to be high?  The lack of oil reserves.  Why do we have a lack of oil reserves?  The Democrats won't let us drill for more oil.

The other reason is selfishness on the Americans part.  If we can get oil from other places and dry up their reserves first, then we (America) will have all the oil left.  Who then controls the world's economy again, that's right, America.  While I know that seems a bit on the conspiracy theory, it is plausible.

You are absolutely right, we need to start drilling for more oil to lower these prices, regardless of our political stance and party, high gas prices affect everything.  When the price for gas went up, everything else went up because of transporting costs and energy costs.  Food, clothing, and shelter costs went sky high.  The current oil prices are driving a wider gap between the haves and the have nots.  Economically and socially speaking it is the wisest thing to do:  Drill for more oil and become less dependant upon our enemies.
