How long is it normally between passing the AT-SAT test and the FAA contacting you?

I passed my AT-SAT test with a 98% back in January. I was wondering how long normally does it take in order for the FAA to contact you with the pre-screening or whatever it is they do? Detailed answers would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

  1. I don't know if it's typical, but I asked some of our new developmental controllers and they said it was about a month or so for them.

It seems like you should have been contacted, since one of our new folks had a score of 84.5 and was picked up quickly.   I've heard that scores aren't all that important as long as you pass the AT-SAT though.

When I was hired (long ago), the times varied by region with some picking up new controllers very quickly and others at a more leisurely pace.

  2. I'd say it's depending on the location you applied for, but probably between 1-3 months before you find out if you made the referral list. You'll only know by checking the website if you made it or not. Then maybe another month before you find out if you get an interview or not. They're doing a lot better at speeding things up so I'm sure your wait will be shorter b/t the exam and referral than mine was.

My experience so far: I actually took my exam in May 2007 and heard nothing until Feb. 2008. Feb. they put out the referral list and found out Mar. I got an interview, then interviewed Monday (4/7). It'll be another few weeks before the med. & sec. check is processed. After that they'll send me the final offer with dates to OKC (likely June b/c April's already full and most of May is as well).

Don't forget the FAA is federal govt. also known to be as slow as snails. So have patience or if not it may not be the job for you. Good luck.
