How long is it safe to leave our wet cat food?

  1. It can vary but if your really worried about it I would use the same sort of guidlines you would with your own food. So if your willing to leave dinner on the table for an hour before you put it away in the fridge then perhaps an hour would be the same for the cats.

    Really though they should eat it fairly quickly or you may be feeding them too much.


  2. Depends if it's open or not. If it's open I wouldn't let it stay more than a day/overnight.

    If not it should be fine for a very long time if it's canned.

  3. If it is an open can, it can be stored in the refrigerator with a lid (aluminum foil works well) for 5-7 days.  Just check it for any foul odor or mold growth.  Some foods get a yellow or whiteish fuzz on top, others just turn bad and smell.

    If you are talking about leaving it out in a dish, it usually turns bad after 6 hours, but it depends on the food.  If you look at it and it is all dry and crusty, it is deffinately time to throw it out.  You don't want bacteria settling in that can cause your pet to become sick.  

    You could always call or email the food company and ask their recommendations too.
