I may have to sleep in my car for a couple days. I have a 2008 Grand Jeep Cherokee. I was wondering if I could leave the engine running for air conditioning purposes since I am in arizona. Do I run the risk of carbon monoxide exposure or anything if i keep windows cracked? Please help.

  1. Honestly, I would just crack the windows and take your shirt off. Arizona is only really hot during the day.... (I live here too and drive around with no a/c)

If you can't afford a hotel, then you really can't afford the gas....

  2. Go to Wal Mart and buy a battery operated CO2 detector like the one for your house. As long as the Jeep has had good maintenece you should be fine. If there is a steady wind, park heading into it. This will help cooling and push exuast away from the car.

  3. Ya it would b fine to leave your car on but with gas prices at $4.29/gal. I think comfort will come after expence

  4. Leaving your windows cracked will allow the air to get out and the AC if set for outside air will bring the good air in. Now keep in mind that when the car is not moving, you may start to over heat. the fans are only going to be able to pull so much air in. You may just want to find a KOA camp or something and camp out in the open air. May be a little warm, but at least you will not have to worry about additional fuel cost or damage to your engine.

  5. Your car is quite new so it's safe to idle as long as your gas tank allow. For the monoxide concern, remember NEVER to idle and sleep in garage!!!!!   but if it's an open space then enjoy your nap !!!!...
