Do you have to wear fancy attire, or can you just attend in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt?

  1. The ceremony takes about 45 minutes, but you need to go thru lines to surrender your green card, then go to your assigned seat, then get your certificate afterwards, then apply for your passport if you want to - so overall about 2 to 3 hours.

While there's really no strict dress code, it is still advisable to wear decent or formal attire for the occassion out of respect. I wore a business suite during my ceremony.

Edit: To the person below - what kind of ceremony did you attend? No one is gonna read your name, you all take the oath at the same time. That information is baloney.

  2. Depends really on how many people are being naturalized at once and how the ceremony takes place. The ceremony I got to watch in Kansas lasted for around an hour or two because they had a fair amount of people and they say every person's name and where they work or their history briefly.
