The heat wave that California seems to be experiencing at the moment is a result of a ridge of high pressure building out west. These ridges are known to bring warm, sometimes hot air. A ridge is basically a northward bulge of the jet stream (a river of air high in the atmosphere). Early next week it seems that this ridge will shift eastward away from California, then you will see temps go down.

~~~In the seven day forecast on the news this evening, they show next week dropping 10 to 20 degrees-thank goodness!!! It's just been too hot and the nights aren't cooling off which makes it feel even worse! I hope they're right!!!~~~
