I wanted to take it our from the library and I understand that it is part of another book entitled "Different Seasons" by Stephen King. I was wondering how long it is and if it is worth taking out from the library.

  1. About 75 pages (the story, not Different Seasons). The Body is one of his best. Like a lot of his stuff, it's connected to his other books.

  2. It's definitely worth taking out from the library.   The other stories in the book are worth reading, too.  The movie "Stand by Me" is based on the story.  Read the book anyway - don't just rent the movie!

  3. http://www.amazon.com

I looked at Amazon, where I could 'Search Inside' the book "Different Seasons" by King, and according to page numbers in the table of contents, 'The Body' is about 136 pages long.

You can look at that as well as more if you want to follow the link above. Be sure you are in the Books category, then put Different Seasons and the author's name in the search box. Separate the book by clicking on it, then once click again to see the blue links of all you can look at in and out (meaning back cover) of that book.

If you also want to read reviews, scroll down past publication info and other books offered, all the way down to reviews. Usually there are reviews by professionals as well as regular readers. In this case, I see there are 'only' reader reviews, many of which are quite detailed, so watch out for 'spoilers.'

Still, I see that out of 172 reviews (most are partial, along the right, for expansion) about 150 give it five stars, the highest rating on Amazon. It may have been 105, but you see what I mean here, I'm sure.

If you want to look at the book at King's site, among the very many there, try this link:

    http://www.stephenking.com

ADD: The other post may be right, I only subtracted the page The Body started on from the page the next story started on, pg. 293 from 400 plus (can't read my note [!])

However, I see by looking at King's site (go to his 'Library' and put this in the search box) ...not a page number, but that the movie 'Stand By Me' is based on this story. Good movie. I hadn't known that. Thanks for the wedge to let me know that!
