  1. The ski season varies from yr. to yr., depending on the weather. Generally, it's always fully open by Thanskiging weekend & sometimes it's open as early as the middle fo October. October skiing is rare but you'll have no problem skiing there by mid-November. The ski season always goes into April of each yr. but I wouldn't count on much skiing past mid-April. Remember, that the early & late skiing may mean that not all the runs are open & that all the lifts are not operated & you could be limited to skiing only the top of the mountain & the runs in the higher elevation since the temperature is much colder up there. However, you may still try the limited skiing since the lift ticket price will be reduced & also since these ski areas are so large that you'll get your money's worth since you'll always have plenty of runs to try & you'll have enough lifts operated. To be on the safe side; always check the website of each ski area & they will give you all the info. you need (open?, temperature, lift ticket price, lifts open? & runs open?). They also give you the amount of snow which makes up there base (it's always given in feet or inches or both). Don't ski unless you have at least two feet for a base. The best areas to check are Heavenly, Squaw Valley & Kirkwood. These are the areas in the Lake Tahoe area & they have the highest elevation, most runs & most lifts. Check websites like www.heavenly.com, www.squawvalley.com & www.kirkwood.com. These websites will give you the home website for each area & then you can click the various icons to get your exact info. Good Luck.

  2. Most of the areas, will open and close when the snow flies and close when the customers quit coming.  Mid October at the earliest and May 1 at the latest, usually mid April.

  3. I was there last spring from Mar. 31 to Apr. 6 and it was HOT. It was like 50 all week and the snow got pretty bad.

  4. Alpine Meadows has usually been open until Memorial Day.  Not great conditions, but still technically open...

I'd imagine they stay open til then this year as well.

  5. I dont know
