People with their hairs to their knees or passed their butt is gross. Hair that long is natty, it has split ends, it's incredibly dry.

Hair that is to midback is alright.

Try not to go passed there w/o monthly trimmings.

i have hair down to my lowe back and everyone thinks it is so beautiful but i keep it at that length. i am ploynesian and typically our culture believes long hair is a sing of beauty. and the longer it is, the more beautiful you are. but i get irritated when i would get it caught on things so lower back is perfect.

you talking hair?? I would say anything past your waist is too long.  And that's if the hair is nice and healthy, if its all dried out then a bob is long enough!

I think it depends on the person's hair and body. If it is very well maintained, down to the waist can be fine. If it has split ends or is all uneven and raggedy at the bottom they need to cut it off until it isn't. So many women do that... just let the bottom be all raggedy I hate that. Also I don't think super long hair looks good on heavy people, it just seems to make them look wider to me as it spreads across their back.
