Question:

How long is too long to fast my dog? ?

I've been told they do it naturally on their own. NOT my boy!

However, I watched a F.Y.I. animal video once from Netflix on caring for lots of different domesticated animals. I talked of fasting your dog & cat. Then how to use raw meats in their diets for good health.

Can someone give me some feed back on this?

  1. Not a good idea. Many dogs will throw up bile if their stomachs are empty. I assume you fasting your dog because he is overweight, try putting him on a weight control kibble and exercising him more.

  2. how come you want to fast your dog??

  3. I personally would never "starve" an animal w/ out it being medical reason not to feed, say surgery, but that is usually 12 hours prior to. It is inhuman to purposely not feed an animal w/ out being supervised by a medical/vet person.

When searching on raw meat feeding, found an site that you may want to take a look at ... http://www.njboxers.com/faqs.htm#started

The raw meat question was asked on Yahoo, may want to take a look at:

I don't feed my dog or cats raw meat, but that is my choice. I would ask your vet, and see what his/her opinion is on some of the findings, and it may be a good idea to have your dog/cat supervised say every few months to make sure his/her health is ok.

  4. If they are throwing up, they tell you to fast your dog for  12 hours. Other than that I've never heard of fasting. Sorry.

If your dog is over weight, I'd try diet food, and less of it.

  5. ....i would say an hour is too ******* long ya d**k, u dont fast a dog a*****e where do u f'ing live?! ILL KICK UR DUMBASS

  6. Why would you fast your dog? Just buy dog food and feed it that.

  7. There is absolutely no reason to fast your dog unless the dog is the dog is doing pre-surgical fasting or you are giving his system a short rest (less than 24 hours) after a digestive upset.

  8. fasting your dog will kill it. they do not naturally fast. please continue feeding your dog for its own sake.if you continue to fast it it might be best that you give your dog to a friend who can care for it properly.

  9. no you don't fast your dog that's cruel, you should feed him or her some carrots and cabbage maybe some none salty meat or DRY dog food things like that my dog is over weight and this is what my vet recommended apparently they feed seeing eye dogs cabbage. because it fills them more than dog food and is better for them. but please don't fast your dog its cruel.

  10. You'll know when your dog has been fasting too long - it will look at you in the eyes in a strange way, l**k its lips, arch its back and fly through the air landing with its jaws grasped firmly around your jugular. Then it will eat ....YOU!

Don't fast your dog - just feed it the correct amount for its age and breed - that's cruel.

  11. don't fast your dog!

that is called animal abuse, my friend, and is certainly not a good way to make your pets (or any) love you.
