How long is too long to leave stichers in a dog?? ?

yes i know the vet tells you thats not what i asked 10-14 day recomended.

i asked how long it TOO LONG eg:16 days , 21 days

  1. The vet will tell you how long the stitches will be in the dog...

    And some stitches are made to dissolve on their own.

  4. Usually after 10-14 days they'll have to come out unless they are the kind that absorb into the skin.

  5. I left stitches in my rats for 14 days instead of 10 because they were so active I was scared they were going to come out early.

    It took the vet nurses a bit of work to get the stitches out because the skin had just started to grow over the stitches.

    I imagine that the same rule applies for dogs, the longer you leave the stitches in, the worse the problem is. So 16, 21 days is too long to have stitches in unless they are disolvable.
