How long it does take 221 (g) administrative processing ?

I had an interview for L class visa on May 23 2008. But after interview I was given a white paper with above clause 221 (g). They said, if they did not call with in 60 days, than I should call them. But validity of my I-797 was till June 20, 2008. What will be the results in these case. Can anybody help ?
