How long does it take to be a physician? I live in boston Massachusetts what school teach it. Could please forward the information.

  1. It depends on your area of specialization. Generally speaking to graduate from medical school it will take 8 years of studying. Then it is a 1 - 2 year internship where you work in several different areas of medicine on short 2 - 6 week rotations and then during this time you take a few tests in order to qualify as a physician. Once you have completed your internship in most states you can work as a doctor. However without a board certification you are fairly worthless. To become board certified you train for another 3 - 5 years approximately and then you may take a post-doctorate fellowship to specialize even further (e.g. pediatric cardiology). From start to end you and depending on your specialization you are looking somewhere between 10 years - 17 years.
