Getting to Ooty

Air Nearest airport: Coimbatore (88 km/ 21/2 hrs). A cab from here to Ooty costs Rs 1,300 approx, but do negotiate.

Rail Udhgamandalam Station on meter gauge; nearest broad gauge railhead: Coimbatore Junction.

Road A smooth drive down SH17 to Bandipur via Maddur and Mysore. Bandipur segues into the Mudumalai Reserve across the border. Drive up some medium hairpin bends en route to Ooty via Gudalur.

my dear  it is 83 k.m from coimbatore the first 30 k.m in plain and the balance 53 in ghat road . it will be one hour journey up to mettupalayam and from metturpalyam to ooty it is 2 hours journey in ghat road if you are in car and if you are in bus then take 1 hour extra .
