  1. The benefits peak in 2-3 hours then you to redose.  I don't care if the script is written every 6 hours, the 1/2 life of hydrocodone peak in that time.

Blood traces can sty in your system up to 72 hours from a single dose.

Longer if used as prescribed for several days.

  2. It depends on many factors, and what information you are trying to establish.  If you are asking about the effective period of the medication, it is usually less than 4 hours.  However, this does not mean that the medication, nor it's metabolites are out of your system.  If you are wondering how long the medication, and the metabolites can be found on urine drug screens, Several factors need to be considered to determine the length of time a drug or substance can be detected in the urine. Pharmacokinetics, presence of metabolites, patient variability (eg, body mass), short-term vs long-term use of a drug, pH of the urine, and time of last ingestion are some factors that influence detection times.  Also the type of screen will affect the time period in which a medication can be detected.

On the standard EMIT test used by most facilities for random or pre-employment screens the medication can be found for 1-4 days.  On the Abott Labs screen, used by some companies and facilities it is up to 5 or 6 days and on DOT testing and the testing performed by the US government on military and other government employees, it is around 7 days.  This does not affect the ability to pick up the medication in hair follicle test for 30-60 days.

There are many companies who promise that their detox solutions will rid your system, but you will generally wait for 24-48 hours to get these by package delivery, and then you have already reached the 72 hour point by the time the test is performed and about 80% are cleared below the detection levels at that point.  Research has shown that detox solutions only cause you to urinate more, making you feel you are ridding your system, while it actually requires your liver to perform the metabolism to remove the medication.
