  2. That varies widely.

    If FMS knows the parent's filing status to be Single, then it will depend entirely upon the local Child Support Enforcement Agency's procedures.  They would generally see the funds in 3 to 4 weeks after the offset.

    If the parent's filing status is Married or is unknown by FMS, they will sit on the offset for about 6 months to give a current spouse (if one exists) the chance to file an Injured Spouse claim.  (The IRS cannot share taxpayer information with FMS so unless the parent advised FMS of their status, the delay will kick in automatically.)

    If you received the parent's tax refund, the flow time for the rebate will be pretty much the same.

  3. Well, in most states if your original tax refund was intercepted then your stimulis check will also be taken.  There is a form you can fill out to try to release the funds, if you are married your wife would be an injured spouse and can claim some of it back.
