How long of a surfboard should I get?

Question

I am going to start surfing soon. I know I need a longboard if I like surfing because I will be a beginner. I am 5' 1 1/2" and need to know how long of one I should get. ♥please help♥

about an 8,0 long board im  about as tall as u and thts how big it should be u should trya soft top if ur just learning how to surf, if u need anymore questions answered my email, is [e-mail]

I'm 5"2 and I prefer riding a 7"2 board

I wouldn't worry about the size of board you need until you take a lesson and find out if you like it or not.  The person you take the lesson from will evaluate your natural ability, balance, strength, etc. and then recommend a good first size board for you.  You are small enough that you might be able to start with a 7'6" wider fun shape.  Just wait until you try it first.
