I want to arrive on Hawaiian Airlines, Terminal 2 at 935pm on November 1. I would like to catch a 1020 flight on Delta in Terminal 5.

  1. You want to give yourself some time since it takes some time to deplane.  Everyone is grabbing their luggage from the overhead bins so even if you are ready to get off the plane, the people in front of you may not.

Also since you are switching terminals, you have to go through security again and sometimes the security lines can be long.

You might be able to make this connection but I would recommend you sit towards the front of the plane on Hawaiian Airlines so you can be one of the first people off.

  2. flights  generally take 15 minutes to de-board and board 30 minutes  before scheduled take off but this is on a GOOD day most of the time it takes 30 minutes to de-board and you still  need time to locate your gate.

Here is mock schedule for your chosen flight on a typical day at LAX

    9:35pm arrive at LAX

    10:00pm de-board plane

10:00 pm delta flight boards for take off

*10:15pm pick up luggage transfer to Delta

    10:20pm Delta flight leaves

10:30 you arrive at gate for Delta flight

    * if they are willing to transfer bags for you skip this step and head to your gate where you POSSIBLY may make your flight

i HIGHLY recommend TWO hours for even short domestic flights as LAX is nuts.

Hope I helped and good luck!

  3. Minimum connection times between flights can vary quite substantially depending on:

    1. The airlines involved

    2. If you need to go through immigration

    3. Which terminals the flights are in and out of

For the particular flight combinations you are looking at there will be a minimum connection time. If the wait between your flights allows for the connection time and your flight is late and you miss the connecting flight then its the airport's responsibility to get you on the next flaight to your destination. If you haven't allowed for the connection time and you miss the second flight then you will have to re-organise your flights and pay any applicable fees which could mean a $0 refund on the flight you missed.

When booking your flights your agent will be able to advise the minimum connection time for those 2 flights.
