Question:

How long should I leave my yellow bellied sliders in their separate feeding tank? They aren't eating in there

I really want my little YBS hatchlings to eat in their separate feeding tank, so I can try to keep their tank clean, and so I can see how much they are eating at each session. But today, my plan failed. :( I put them in their seprate tank with torn romaine lettuce, small slices of carrots, and their Reptomin pellets, and they just sat there motionless for about thirty minutes. ( I would leave and come back, and they hadn't moved and no food had been eaten.) As soon as I put them back in their tank, they seemed happy and active again, and yes, I have seen them eat before, but in their main tank. Any suggestions on this matter? Thanks everyone!

  1. Feed them something that they recognize as food: live earthworms, soft-bodied insects, fishes (not goldfish), or even strips of liver (preferably rolled in bonemeal). You might also want to feed them individually to keep tabs on which one is eating what and how much. Hold the veggies until they become adults.

  2. I would suggest leaving them where they have been comfortable,,are you also ,,sounds gross but the baby babies need the guppies chopped up a little..some times they are a tad stupid.Or just tossed in a few feeders in the tank they are in and they will continue to be happy.
