Question:

How long should I quarantine my new goldfish?

I just bought a new goldfish today, and he looks pretty healthy, but I want to make sure he is before introducing him to my other goldfish (one other.) Right now I have him in a really small tank with no filter, but if he needs to be in quarantine longer I can stick him in my ten gallon tank (I just upgraded to a 29 gallon and still have my ten gallon)

They're just 15 cent feeders, but I love stitch (the goldfish that I had before buying my new fish) and want to do anything necessary to keep him safe from disease.

  1. If it is a feeder fish i would keep it out for at least 2 or 3 weeks because by then if it is sick it would show symtoms of being sick or already be dead.

  2. Ok well usually when you get your fish you can keep them in the bag that they come in and just stick them on the side of the tank. The bag will float and just lay there. They will get used to the fish and won't be able to do anything to them. So you can just observe for about 30 seconds. And if the fish does good then you can just poor all the water with the fish in the tank.
