How long should I run?

I am a sprinter / middle distance runner and I am in my off season. My season won't start until late November and I am just curious to how much I should run and how often, just to stay in shape in the off season. I also lift weights every Mon, Wed and Fri.

  1. for middle distance i would say 2-5 miles 5 days a week. try some 100 meter sprints every day too. good luck!


  2. As long as you can until you get tired, because i know some people that  worked out to much and they passed out

  4. 5-7 miles a day. About five miles in the morning and a couple more in the afternoon.

  5. 10 minutes a day then do strengthening.

  6. Not sure the same training applies for both sprinting and middle distance.  I can't really advise for sprinting, but for middle distance I would suggest keep up the road running, between 30 and 40 miles a week.  Start each run very gently and try and vary your routes, with a variety of hills and in the middle of a run, once a week, try to do a 6 and a half minute mile.  When you get near November, ease off on the mileage and increase the speed running.  Get plenty of sleep too.
