How long should I swim for Cardio

I just moved into a house with a pool. I like working out but I am uncertain about something. How many minutes should I swim laps for to get in an effective cardio workout?

  3. well, whatever gets your heatrate up.

    but i'd say atleast from 15 - and hour. I'd go mor towards an hour or more though.

    And, i'd suggest that, for most effect, sprint for like 3  minutes and then pace for 2 minutes and then sprint for 3 etc.. etc..


  4. well...there isnt a set amount...its just how ever many it takes to get ur heart rate up to a certain point and to monitor the intensity at which u swim, which u can figure out easily on what ur target heart rate is...just google "target heart rate"..and just make sure its in the range for at least 40 minutes for an efficient work out...doing this will give u the most out of ur cardio workout...also after 3 weeks of swimming, start doing intervals with intensity to keep u going stromg and building up endurance as well as muscle mass and shrinking the fat in cells....if u change it up slightly every 3 weeks, ul continue to become leaner and what have u.
