Question:

How long should I wait before changing to a new facial cleanser?

I've heard that some people break out more when they change to a new cleanser, and school is starting tomorrow, and I only have enough of my old cleanser to last me another day.

If I switch to a new cleanser right after using the rest of my old one, will I break out? I don't want to break out on the first week of school.

thanks

  1. It is common when switching to a new cleanser to have breakouts for up to two weeks. To help combat this try to find a cleanser with the same ingredients of your old cleanser. If you do break out do not pick at or pop  it as it will simply cause it to heal slower and actually spread the breakout to the rest of your face!

If you've been using this new cleanser for more than a 1 1/2 to 2 weeks and your still breaking out you might need to find a new cleanser as this one might be causing it.

Since your starting school tomorrow I would recommend not to start a new skin care regiment but try to make your current cleanser last as long as possible (you really only need a pea-sized amount to cleanse your face most people use 3-6 times as much cleanser as they actually need). So you do not break out your first week back.
