Question:

How long should I wait before washing my newly painted porch floor?

It's been about 48 hours since I painted my porch floor with Valspar's porch and floor paint. My porch ceiling is dirty and I'd like to spray it off, but I noticed when the floor gets wet the color changes like the paint is wet again. It doesn't rub off, but I'm still worried that it'll affect the finish.

I'd read the can, but unfortunately the label was damaged to the point where it is unreadable : \ Should I wait longer?

  1. it wont affect the finish if it has been that long

  2. definitely wait. the paint hasn't had near enough time to cure. since i don't know how many coats you applied or if one thick coat was used i would wait one week. the top may appear dry but beneath it isn't. valspar is a very good product and it will last for years but you may have problems if there is a chemical reaction with whatever cleaning agent you used. i've worked on many hardwood floors so i'm confident in my answer.

  3. According to their label details you should not wash the paint for 7 Days.
