Question:

How long should I wait for an employer?

How long should I wait? I interviewed with a potential employer on Monday. They said they need time to plan and organize their extension campus at a different location because they are moving from their current spot. I am really interested in this position. I sent a thank you note previously. I do not have anyone showing a hint of interest at this point, so I do not want to come off as pushy; and I need hope. I worry that if I come as too pushy then I will not be considered. What should I do? Thank you

  1. Showing your continuing interest in the job is a positive thing; stalking is not.  I suggest that you should be patient and pursue other job openings while you are waiting.  Sometimes it takes a long time to make a job offer, at least several weeks, especially if the company is moving.  You can call or email occasionally to check on the status of the opening.  And you can gently remind the hiring manager that you are interested and have the qualifications to do the job.
