I have a high end stereo system in my car and as i was listening to music with the car turned off the battery died in about an hour and i had to jump the battery. Is this normal??

I have two 12 inch subs powered by a 900 watt amp and 4 other speakers powered by a 600 watt amp.

I bought the car with all this equipment in it so i really don't know how everything is connected to the battery.

Are there any settings you know of that i may have set wrong?

any suggestions are appreciated

thanks

  1. considering what all your running on the amp system that's about average for a good battery to last, the car would have to be running to supply that much power for any longer length of time, adding an extra battery just for the car alone will help with that problem, good luck.

  2. Thats about right.  Consider yourself lucky that it lasted that long lol.  You'll probably want to invest in a couple more batteries for your installation as a single battery which has to power your vehicle plus your audio system will be VERY short lived.  Maybe a few days.
