  1. Here in Southern California we turn our water over once per day.  If you have specs on your pump and know how many gallons per minute your flowing you take your pool gallons and divide it by the GPM this will give you minutes and Davide by 60 for hours for one turn.

Old rule of thumb was 2 turns in Summer.  If you don't know your pump GPM a flow gauge can assist if your plumbing complies.  Otherwise you can calculate it with pressure/vacuum gauges to get the total dynamic head and work back to GPM.

I run my 12,000 gallon pool/spa 4 hours per day for one turn and about 6 hours in all in summer.

    You're welcome!!

  2. in the summer, probably about 6-8 hours

  3. My family and i have an above ground pool( you probually have one too). My dad puts the filter on a timer at 4:00pm until 10 or 11 at night( don't leave it on the whole time)!

    hope this helped!!

  4. it should run all the time

  5. All the pools I service (about 35) have timers that are set to run from 9am-9pm. If you dont have an auto cover you want to run the pool during the day so fresh chlorine is added during these times. The pools I service that do have auto covers run during the night to save electricity. You need fresh chlorine during the day because the sunlight burns off chlorine in the water. You do not need to run 24hrs/day unless shocking or have algae problems you are taking care of.
