How long should a wedding reception last?

4 to 5 hrs.

4 the minimum, & no later than midnight.

For the people who will be driving home a kinda long/long distance.

Overall depends on both of you & the guests there.

Some like to dance/party. Some people haven't seen each other in a long time, so this is a good chance to catch up etc.

My reception was from 5:00-11:00 and everyone stayed the entire time.

1 hour for cocktails and appetizers before bride and groom make entrance. 3 to 4 hours for actual dinner, dancing, cake cutting and other things.

That TOTALLY depends on how much you can afford, the time of day, if you want to serve a meal ect...

between 2 and 5 hours.

We are doing outs for 5 because we are doing a full sit down dinner, plus his family is Latin and they like to PARTY. (but we are having a DRY wedding so this is different for them lol the party may end early anyway!)

At least an hour less than what it usually does....

have the photographer take as many pictures, ( that's all of them that don't have the bride in them) before the wedding, so your guests aren't sitting at the reception waiting on you while you take 500 pictures.........

Depends on what you are having.  Cocktail hour, sit down dinner, and a dance.

No reception should go beyond midnight regardless.

And it should not be more than 1 hour after your wedding that it starts with teh Bride and Groom there.

It all depends most places only allow you to serve until 1am and music must stop. If you have a great dj and people are enjoying themselves i think it can last as long as you make it last

Most weddings I attend are between 5-6 hours.  The first hour is cocktail hour, then the reception lasts anywhere from 4-5 hours.

Example:

Church:  3:30-4:30

Cocktail Hour:  5pm-6pm

Dinner and Dancing 6pm-10pm
