How long should he wait for the U.S. visa?

my friend has been waiting for having the U.S. visa for almost half year. he is from Saudi Arabia. nobody knows why he is still under process. even if he asks embassy, they just say " you are still under process..." but they dont tell him about reason. if you have information about anything related to the visa for Saudi people under process, plz let me know.......

Security. Saudi Arabia has a fair number of terrorists. They need to make sure he (and everyone else applying) isn't one. It creates a backlog.

yes there is big backlog it can take 6-9 months.
