How long should hibiscus flowers last once they bloom?

Mine only live for one day then they close up and fall off the plant the next day. Is this normal? Should the flowers live longer? My plant is outdoors, it is a shrub plant and it is a Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. The plant is doing great, no yellow leaves, and I have lots of buds, but the flowers just don't last long. Any suggestions?

  1. That's about the life of the flowers. The trick is to have more blooms. Pick off the dead flowers(dead head)stems and all so the plant doesn't send energy to them anymore . Use miracid on them since it's an acid loving plant.

  2. Yep, they wither after 24hours. My husband's a landscaper and we have them. In addition to acid feed, they like to be in full sun and well drained soil.
