How long should i leave the radio in a 96 saab 900s disconnested b4 it resets itself?

i need to reset the radio so it will let me put the code in my friend messed it by entering a bunch of wrong codes now it is locked and i have the right code but i need to reset it so i can put the code in. im looking for the fastest way possible so anything will help.

If it has not reset within 30 minutes it means that there is a dead man's lock on the radio.  It is designed to prevent people from stealing the radio then going through all the combinations to unlock it.  After 10, 50 or 100 tries (whichever is set into the radio) it will lock up completely and not allow further tries.

The only solution then would be to take it to a dealer who may have a master unlock code or a tool to reset it.
