How long should i microwave an ear of corn?

my mother told me that her friend used to make corn on the cob in the microwave. (i don't have a grill and it's too hot to boil in my house.) she said she wrapped it in plastic wrap and put some butter in with it. but i don't know how long to put it in. and the woman who did this is dead, so i can't call her and ask.

i would throw out a microwave because they destroy food if you truly want to enjoy foodd you need to cook it properly and deal with the heat
