The guy who did it obviously did not know what he was talking about, he told me to clean it with neosporin and alcohol [dont worry, im not im using h2ocean] and he also told me i could change the ring after three days, which i highly doubt, so how long should i actually wait?

also how long should i wait to swim?

i know EVERYone has different numbers and opinions, but just a general average?

  1. The guy who told you that is a complete door k**b.

The proper waiting time is 6 months. If you try to change it in three days, a normal belly button ring wont usually even fit. Don't try, it could s***w it up.

I went swimming in a lake the day after mine was done (probably not that smart) and i have really sensitive skin, but it did nothing to it. You can still go swimming, i just suggest not, and if you do try covering it with something like a waterproof bandaid.

Hope it all turns out well!

  2. Well it IS a wound so u should probably wait 6 months before removing it! But in the meantime to decrease healing time u should rotate ur belly ring often and use sea salt and warm water to clean it. I have had a belly ring for 2 years now, and have watched many of my friends help their wound heal just by following the simple procedures above.

  3. OMG NEVER--EVER--clean a piercing with neosporing OR alcohol!!!!!! Alcohol is the worst thing ever! It dries out the piercing and causes a lot of problems later! Was this guy a professional? If so...he's clearly new. DO NOT change the barbell/ring for at the very least 2 months (sorry I accidentally wrote 2 weeks...). CLEAN IT regularly, and I recommend salt water. (research it--remember to use sea salt & distilled water). If you need further help with anything to do with tattooes or piercings you can email me pro_amateur@yahoo.com

  4. 6-12 months for a navel piercing to be fully healed- they are very temperamental piercings and are actually a type of surface piercing.

It is also recommended that you shouldn't go swimming (lake, pool, ocean, etc.), or even submerge it in a bathtub (of course, showering is fine) for the entire healing period.
