Question:

How long should it be before you get your period after having a baby?

I had a baby 3 months ago. I bled for about 6 weeks after the birth, and haven't had any bleeding since. How long should it take before I get a period. I'm kind of afraid I might be pregnant again (had a condom breaking incident). I should probably go get a pregnancy test, but wanted to know what's kind of "normal." I am breastfeeding, so would that make a difference? Thanks!

  1. When I was breast feeding my oldest daughter I did not get a period for a year. With my other kids it was at about 5 or 6 months.

  2. with my son i got my period when he was 4 months and i was breastfeeding!

  3. since you are breastfeeding it my take a really long time, i didnt get mine back till my daughter was almost a year (i was also breastfeeding) although there were a couple of times i had wishful thinking and took a test to be sure if i was pregnant again or not. i would just wait a few weeks and if pregnancy signs do occur take a hpt, but its very normal to not get your period while breastfeeding

  4. Breastfeeding will delay it a lot of the time.

I had mine 5 weeks after I had my daughter.

  5. with all 3 of my children my period came at exactly 6 weeks. i didnt breastfeed but ive heard it can take longer if u do
