How long should it take to recieve your deposit back?

I have heard there is a new law that came into effect in April last year, saying that landlords have to give the deposit back within a set time. Do you know how long this is? I want to give in my notice soon, so just wanted to know my rights.

  1. From 6 April 2007, when you pay a tenancy deposit for an assured shorthold tenancy to a private landlord or letting agent, the deposit must be protected by a government-approved scheme.

  5. In PA and I would think in most states no more than 30 days. If they withhold any part of it, they must give you a detailed list of any damages/cleaning charges they are withholding for
