im applying to college online and it gives me an area to write my essay. Idk how long it should be

  1. Each college may require or request different lengths in essays.  If the application does not explicitly state how many words your essay should be, a general estimate is 250 words for short answer questions and 500 words for general essays.  

    The Common Application follows those standards.
