I just got 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth pulled and it's been almost 3 hours and I'm still bleeding. Is that normal?

How can I stop it?

I can't even swallow properly with all those guaze things in my mouth.

  1. ACTIVE BLEEDING SHOULD STOP WITHIN 15 MINUITS AFTER EXTRACTION. WHEREAS OOZING, WHICH IS NOT ACTIVE BLEEDING, USUALLY RESOLVES WITHIN A FEW HOURS.

IF YOU KEEP REMOVING THE BLOODY GUAUZE FROM THE EXTRACTION SITE TO LOOK AT IT  DON'T BE SURPISED IF IT LOOKS BLOODY. LEACE IT ALONE.

YOU CAN BITE OVER THE SOCKET WITH A COLD WET TEA BAG. THE TANNINS IN THE TEA WILL RESOLVE THIS. PLACE IT THERE AND BITE ON IT FOR 30 MIN.

  2. I had the same problem. i had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled and three others at the same time. Just for the record i don't know why they call them wisdom teeth cuz i was no smarter with them then without. Anyways back to the question at hand my gums bled for three days and i went back to the surgeon and they said that this was normal but most people bleed for six to seven hours. You can try to stick tea bags (dry when u place them in) there is something about the tea that clots the blood and stops bleeding. Yes i had problems with the gauze as well. trust me though the problems you are having now are less then dealing with the pain from teeth. I would say if they don't stop by afternoon tomorrow go back to the surgeon.

  3. around 3 days =) it's super normal 'cos it's juz 3 hours after surgery

to reduce the bleeding you should put gauze and pressure... change the gauze if it's wet, you could use ice to reduce the bleeding, if your cheek are swollen it's normal (up to 2 weeks) and if it's really painful (and you couldnt chew your food or open your mouth) it's normal. you could take pain reliever

actually there's a medicine called tranexamic acid to reduce the bleeding, you could ask prescription from your dentist to buy the medicine (if the bleeding is too much)

just eat soft food and NO HOT food/ drink, dont drink soft drinks/ alcohol..
